How to Manually Update Windows
Windows does a good job at automatically keeping your computer up to date; however, sometimes updates need to be manually run. This guide will show you how to manually run Windows Updates.
1. Click the Start Button, then click the Settings Gear.
2. Click "Update & Security" - it may be in a different place for you, but should appear on the bottom row.
3. Click "Check for Updates", this can take some time, and will automatically download any updates. If no new updates are found, it will say "You're up to date".
4. If updates are found, it may prompt you to "Install Now" - once that is done it may ask for a restart. If a restart is needed, you can choose "Restart now" or "Schedule the restart". Be aware that some updates can be larger and will put your computer out of service for a while. Remember to not turn your computer off while updating. If it is a laptop, having it plugged in is recommended.
